Black Garlic Christmas Crack
Our savory-sweet holiday twist on classic saltine toffee bark. Black garlic powder deepens the caramel with a mellow umami note, finished under a glossy dark chocolate top.
Ingredients
- 36 to 38 saltine crackers (one full sheet pan)
- 1 Cup Salted Butter
- 1 Cup Brown Sugar
- 1/2 Tsp Black Garlic Powder
- 2 Cups Semi-Sweet Chocolate
Method
- Preheat the oven to 400F.
- Line a 10x15 sheet pan with aluminum foil, making sure it covers all the sides. Lay the crackers on the foil to cover the bottom in a single layer.
- In a saucepan, add the butter and brown sugar. Melt the butter and keep mixing until the brown sugar and butter emulsify together and start to boil.
- Add the black garlic powder and mix until fully incorporated.
- Pour the mixture over the saltine crackers and spread it out to coat them evenly.
- Bake for 5 minutes.
- While the toffee bakes, put the semi-sweet chocolate chips in an oven safe dish and heat for 30 seconds to 1 minute until they fully melt.
- Take out the sheet pan and pour the melted chocolate over the top. Spread it evenly to coat the caramel while everything is hot so the chocolate sticks.
- Let it cool to room temperature, or chill it in the refrigerator if you like it cold. Once set, break it apart and enjoy.
